Miley Cyrus' called Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins for advice two days before he died

Days before Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away in 2022, Miley Cyrus reached out to him during one of her most anxious moments.

The death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins shook the music world last year, with fans and fellow artists mourning his unexpected passing on March 25. Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room hours before the band was due to perform at a Colombian festival. He was 50 years old.

Miley Cyrus was among the celebrities who paid tributes to the late star and it was later revealed that the Flowers singer reached out to the Foo Fighters musician just days before during a distressful time.

Taylor Hawkins was the first person Miley Cyrus called after plane incident

On March 22, 2022, Miley’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing after it was struck by lightning in a major unexpected storm on the way to Asunción, Paraguay. The singer was due to headline the Asunciónico music festival.

“My crew, band, friends, and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing,” she told Instagram fans. “We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay,”

Two days after Hawkins’ death, Cyrus dedicated her Lollapalooza Brazil stage to her friend, recalling the last time they spoke.

“We had to make an emergency landing,” she said about the ordeal. “And the first person I called was Taylor because he was already at the festival and that would have been a time that I would have gotten to see my friend and I didn’t. I would have done anything to hang out with him one more time.”

In a recent interview, Cyrus explained that she called him asking whether she should continue flying to the next show since he would also be at the event.

Colombian authorities revealed that 10 substances were found during Hawkins’ urine toxicology test, including THC, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids, reports CNN. The office did not rule on the cause of death and it has yet to be publically disclosed.

Taylor Hawkins is survived by his wife and three children

The Foo Fighters drummer married his wife, Alison, in 2005 and they share a son, Oliver Shane, and two daughters called Annabelle and Everleigh.

Oliver goes by the name Shane, but he is named after his father, who shares the same first name. Born in 2007, fans may have seen Shane before as he joined his dad and Nirvana drummer on stage in 2018 to perform a Rolling Stones cover.

The eldest Hawkins child clearly inherited his drumming talent from his parent as Taylor once joked that he was ready to “take over my job in 10 years.”

Annabelle Hawkins is 14 years old and her youngest sister is about age eight.
